Quick Tips 101

I know my last blog post took a different stance, but this is UNCONFIND, you have options here. I am here to support and help you along your journey. So I have provided three must-dos when it comes to job searching for those who are just getting started or need a little refresher.

  1. Update Your Resume

This is the least looked forward to activity when it comes to finding a job and internships. Fitting all your life accomplishments onto a one-page paper is blasphemous and the anxieties that come with creating that one-pager are just as unnecessary. Now I may not agree with the concept of resumes but it is the very first thing employers look at, so it is still, unfortunately, a necessity whether we like it or not. Fortunately, there are people and sites you can pay to review and create your resume these days. Here are some templates to help you get started. Society has at the very least, eased up on the creation of resumes. You can take a less traditional route and spice it up a little to stand out and show your personality. Creating a personal profile website is another route you can take to express your individuality while still falling into the systemic capitalistic ways of conquering the American dream. At the end of the day, it may feel like a hassle but it will all be worth it in the end.

2. Update Your Linkedin / Fix Your Socials

If you are not aware of what this app is you need to get with the times. If you are aware but for some reason don’t have it, download it right now! This is one of the best social networking apps for professionals. It’s like your resume is being presented in an online profile style. LinkedIn is the world's largest professional network on the internet. You can use LinkedIn to find the right job or internship, connect and strengthen professional relationships, and learn the skills you need to succeed in your career. While you are at it, go ahead and check your socials, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, etc. Make sure you have presented yourself as an accurate depiction of who you are that you stand proudly by. You’d be surprised how many missed job opportunities someone doesn’t get for having inappropriate posts on their socials.

3. Be Yourself

I hope these three simple strategies help you secure the internship. If you do get the internship congratulations! I’m proud of you for getting through that process. I wish you nothing but success not only in your career but in life as well. If you do not, I want you to know; when one door closes another one opens, rejection is just redirection, not the end, but the beginning. Whether you get the internship or not, just remember what is for you will not pass you. This goes for anything in life because this journey is different for everyone, everyone is unique so different paths for different tasks. Hang in there, your time is coming :)
